The reindeer was lots of fun to make
But it really wasn’t unique
So we searched for inspiration
And found it in less than a week.
The first thought I had was to make a penguin
‘Cuz they’re cute and full of culture
But they’re obvious and easy and that’s not me
So instead, I chose a vulture.
A vulture?
A vulture.
Some days I’m crazy productive
TPS Reports as far as the eye can see
Other days I peek at the interwebz
Reading Facebook, blogs, and Little Dee.
Little Dee’s a girl who got lost in the woods
And was saved by two furry beasts
A vulture named Vachel lives with them
And at first saw Dee as good eats.
But time went by and soon his heart
Warmed to this little child
The other critters are funny and sweet
And Vachel is snarky and wild.
Can you guess why I like him?
Of course you can.
That’s great, you say, but one thing puzzles me
Why did you show this bird knitting?
I did it because with our favorite strips
This decision was only fitting.
In ‘We Rogues of Wool’ pirate Vachel steers a sheep
Knitting and riding the range
It was set to music and is a poem quite epic
Don’t like? Then clearly you’re strange.
So I burned my fingers with gallons of hot glue
VA Wine Diva suffered as well
She knitted each scarf on toothpicks herself
She’s hardcore, sassy, and swell!
This time of year is a favorite of mine
The giving season makes it all right
So with a knitting toon vulture I say to you
Merry Christmas to all and to all a good night!

You have a special sense of humour, as my Canadian aunt would say. Great post…
thanks, WW!
Love it! I once knitted (as close as workably possible) Vachel’s knitting instructions on one of the strips, which made kind of a wing shape, and mailed it to Chris Baldwin. I love your vulture!
Thanks Alison! I’m betting that the full on Vachel knitting was impressive. Hm, I wonder if I could talk my partner into doing it… on toothpicks?
No!
